WooCommerce Age Verification Setup Guide

VeriSelf’s WooCommerce integration lets you age-check shoppers at the right moment — before they browse restricted categories, add products to their cart, or complete checkout. This guide walks you through the setup.

What You Need

• WordPress 6.4+ and WooCommerce 8.0+
• VeriSelf plugin installed and activated
• At least one AI provider configured (Free Cloud AI, BYOAI, or VeriSelf Cloud AI subscription)

Step 1: Enable the Integration

1. In your WordPress admin, go to VeriSelf Verification → Integrations.
2. Find the WooCommerce card and turn on Enable WooCommerce gating.
3. Choose the minimum age (default 18) and preferred verification mode.

Step 2: Choose Where to Gate

In the same WooCommerce card you can enable any combination of:

• Shop/archive pages: gate entire category grids.
• Product pages: require verification before viewing restricted products.
• Add to cart: block adding restricted items until verified.
• Checkout: final age confirmation before order placement.

Step 3: Set Per-Product and Per-Category Rules

1. Edit a product and scroll to the VeriSelf Age Gate meta box.
2. Check Enable age verification for this product and set a minimum age if it differs from the default.
3. For category-level rules, edit a product category and enable age verification in the VeriSelf fields.

Step 4: Test the Shopper Flow

1. Open an incognito browser window and visit a restricted product.
2. Verify using DOB or Yes/No mode first (no camera needed for testing).
3. Confirm the gate disappears and the product/cart/checkout becomes accessible.

Step 5: Switch to AI Verification

Once the flow is working, change the verification mode to AI camera to add biometric age estimation and liveness checks. Free users can use their 100 lifetime Cloud AI credits; paid users can enable unlimited BYOAI or subscribe to Cloud AI.

Tips for High-Risk Products

• Enable GPS verification in high-risk categories to confirm jurisdiction.
• Turn on the Risk Engine to flag VPNs, virtual cameras, and low AI confidence.
• Enable debug photos in the audit log only while testing; disable in production for privacy.
